Hello and Welcome…
Hmmm, my website has been up and running now for a number of years, well, since 2020 to be exact! and I’ve never really got to grips with my blog. As I write, I contemplate just why this is…
I guess one reason is that I don’t really ‘chase the limelight’ as they say, fundamentally I do not like being the centre of attention, in fact I would say I actively go out of my way to avoid it. This doesn’t bode well for a blog does it!
I’m also probably a better listener than a talker, so talking about me doesn’t feel natural or comfortable to be honest.
So, to begin… I thought I would have a go at sharing a little bit of me.
Until I had to find a ‘sensible’ career, I craved an outdoor life. Which impulsively lead me to working with horses, initially as a riding instructor then with international show jumpers, I loved this travelling irregular lifestyle. It was also very possibly where I discovered sheep. Working on a sheep farm, I soon had to learn the art of sheep shearing and the many lambing duties.
However, as much fun as this was, it doesn’t buy houses or cars, so a more conventional lifestyle was required!
A career path took me to being an Accountant.
Eventually after enduring endless exams! I obtained quite a demanding role with what I felt was a high burden of responsibility. Looking back, I didn’t feel I belonged in the business world, I had a perceived lack of connection to it and a misalignment of personal values.
I had an internal belief that I was not as competent as others perceived me to be and my interests and personal values did not always align with the competitive nature of the business world.
I worried endlessly about this.
Then at the age of 49 my journey changed… I resigned from my position and sought after a more creative and again an unconventional lifestyle. I love wool and especially the versatility and creative opportunities that feltmaking brings, my vision… to build a thriving creative business with wool and sustainability at the forefront.
An important part of my journey was realising that I hadn’t totally abandoned who I was before and how it all plays a role in my work now. I love patterns, accuracy and attention to detail are important to me too (maybe accountancy gave me this).
Being a naturally quiet person, a reflective observer, is maybe the reason I seek vibrant colour, who knows, do I secretly have a desire to stand out from the crowd, haha!

I share my life with my husband Malcolm and Fergus, a very lively and somewhat wilful cocker spaniel.
We live in an old characterful cottage in a village on the North Yorkshire coast, where we very much enjoy and are incredibly grateful for our beautiful rural countryside.
Finally, I have come to believe that all things are possible, adopting a mindset of focusing on potential and possibilities, enjoying what you do, overcoming challenges and achieving goals.
