Abstract Wool & Silk Felted Handbag
Abstract Wool & Silk Felted Handbag is a one of a kind art piece and is wet felted using blended Merino wool and a colourful selection of hand dyed silks. A handmade and exquisite piece. It is elegant, lightweight and a great medium sized bag with a useful inside pocket.
This method of felting uses soap, warm water and agitation to tangle fibres together to create felt. This bag is made around a resist (pattern) in one piece so completely seamless, finished with a lovely handmade soft black leather adjustable strap.
Felt is surprisingly strong and no two pieces will ever be the same, this bag is defined by strong colour combinations and colour blends. The blended rich colours give this bag a nice warmth and the silks add a extra textural element and fine detail which is characteristic of artisan felted work

Handmade pure wool. Care instructions: Hand washing is recommended, ideally wipe with a damp cloth and pad out with a towel to shape and allow dry naturally.
Alternatively, if you fancy having a go at wet felting your own colourful bag join one of our Workshops. All materials, equipment and tuition are provided to support and guide you through the process of wet felting using traditional hand rolling techniques. You will be guided through choosing colours and textures and then the wet felting process to sculpture shapes using a resist (pattern). We also look at how to further enhance your work with embellishments such as beads, silks, yarns and embroidery to add further surface texture and detail. You will take away the work you produce on the day plus PDF notes for reference later.
